Making sure your tyres are regularly checked, maintained and in good condition is an important part of yours and other people’s
safety on the road. Your cars road handling ability, grip, stopping distances and even fuel economy can be affected by inadequate
tread depths or under inflated tyres.
The legal tread depth limit is 1.6mm if you are caught with a tyre below this depth it can result in a fine and three points on
your licence, this will multiply for every tyre that is below that limit.
When we check a tyre, we check the tread depth and condition of the tyre if it has any cuts, splits, bulges, perishing, evidence
of poor wheel alignment or if it has become misshapen. When we change a tyre, the valve, balancing and fitment are all included
within the cost of the tyre.
Balancing of the tyres is critical to stop any vibrations being felt through the steering wheel whilst driving. The reason we
check for alignment damage is because incorrect wheel alignment can cause premature wear to the tyres which in turn leads to
unsafe tyres and unnecessary costs.
